About

After watching Smokey and the Bandit in 1977, I finally saved my pennies and worked 2 jobs so I could finally get my dream car as a 17-year old in 1981. It was a '77 Black TA with 400, 4-speed and T-Tops. It wasn't an SE but I was 17 and didnt care at the time, it was close enough to a Bandit TA for me! I'd love to still have it but I totalled it in 1984.

Specs

400, 4 speed

Factory Options

Hust T-Tops
Rally II wheels
Black interior with vinyl horsecollar seats
A/C

Mods

I kept it pretty much stock. It did not have the pinstripes or bird decals when I bought it, not sure why. I eventually painted it a striped it myself with some funky red/orange/yellow tricolor pinstriping (hey, it was the 80's!)
Those vinyl seats were hot in the summertime, so I installed some cloth seat covers from JC Whitney and my mom embroidered a screaming chicken on the back seat.
I worked in a tire shop in a small town and would sneak it into the car bays late at night and work on it.
