- Congrats on being Cool Ride of the Week! Your Corvair is awesome, can't wait to see the results once the work begins. Be sure and keep a photo diary to share with your friends here at Motortopia. I do like the green though. :-)

About
I bought this car the week after I graduated from high
school. The owner was selling four corvairs, including
two '65 Corsa turbos, a '62 convertible, and, the one I
SHOULD have bought, a '69 140/4 convertible. (Man,
I really wish I knew what happened to the '69.)
When I bought this car, the turbo was seized up. I ended up
driving this car for the first few years I was in college,
and never had the money to get the turbo working.
After driving it for a few years, I bought a Toyota Supra
for my daily driver, and my brother started driving this
Corvair while he was restoring his 1973 Opel GT. At
some point, he and his friend managed to throw a
fanbelt and continued to drive the car, resulting in
a dropped valve seat,. The car was parked for several
years until I finally purchased a used turbo motor in
Texas and put it in the Vair.
Now, it is sitting in my garage, waiting for restoration to begin. I will be returning it to its factory original color of Madeira Maroon, which will look great with the white and black interior, and the white top.
