This is my '76 Maverick K-9 cruiser. And before you ask, yes...Ford did actually offer the Maverick to law enforcement agencies as a police cruiser! Their motives were to offer a lower cost alternative especially in urban areas. The car was available with either the 250 cid 6 cylinder or 302 V-8 engines. The problem that Dearborn had was that the car was not equipped with the usual police package accessories that departments wanted, so the car was not successful in the sales department.
The PoliceMav is equipped with all the era correct police accesories right down to the divider to keep the officers' german shepherd safely confined in the back. Nothing is just for show. Everything works.
I was honored last year (2006) by being selected to be in the Invitational Display at the All Ford Nationals at Carlisle, Pa.
