1974 Pontiac Grand Am
“Tin Indian”
Last Updated: May 13, 2007
About
This 1974 Grand Am is my first Pontiac. It was a daily driver for several years and was "retired" and restored in 1996. Originally a black car with a white interior, it has been converted to black/black and mildly customized to my personal tastes.
I love driving/showing this car as it is so rare. And if I had a dollar for every time someone has said: "Great looking Grand Prix!", well, let's just say I'd have a lot of dollars.
This car is currently undergoing an engine transplant. We are pulling the original (rebuilt in 1987) 400 CI engine and will retire it in favor of a warmed up 428 CI.
A stall converter and full blown Ram Air Enterprises dual exhaust is also being added at the same time.
Mods
Engine highly modified (blanced/blueprinted, cam, bronze valve guides, double-roller timing chain, etc.)
Added a four-barrel intake manifold and carburetor (yes, it was a two-barrel from the factory)
Transmission highly modified (stall converter, TCI valve body, shift kit)
Hood tach added
Replacement fiberglass nose piece
Rear window louvers
Rear window trim powder coated black
