About
My Classic MGB Cars (Go about halfway down the page to see this one)
This all-original 70 MGB in pale primrose (a soft yellow color) is in excellent condition. 1970 was the ONLY year that MGB had a "spliit" rear bumper (with the license plate in between the two separate parts of the bumper), supposedly making it worth considerably more than the preceding and following years. The interior, top, tonneau, and other accessories are in very nice condition. The paint - for being almost 40 years old - is in nice condition. The chromed wire wheels give it a special look.
Specs
Although I've upgraded the carbs, this is still a long-stroke, 1800 cc engine... they're not terribly fast - but when your rear end is sitting only about 7" off the pavement, they sure seem fast driving on curving, mountainous roads.
While a gigantic SUV will go off and leave it at a stoplight, get on a steep, winding mountainous road with lots of hairpin curves and the MGB is in its element - a tight, flat suspension and a ball to drive!
Factory Options
This is a basic "no frills" MGB from that era... no radio (who could hear it over the road noise and the upgraded Monza exhaust system), no air conditioning (who would want it driving around with the top down), no power steering (who would have it with the nice, tight rack and pinion setup)... just a good, solid, fun-to-drive 1970 MGB!
Mods
The engine was rebuilt about 22,000 miles ago; the only thing non-original is an upgrade to SU HS6 carbs (rather than the stock HS4's), resulting in a good bit more pep. It also has an oversize, flow-through Monza exhaust system - which gives a nice, "growley" sound and adds about 5 - 10% horsepower.
