1968 Plymouth Road Runner 383
“Mopar or No Car”
Last Updated: May 30, 2008
About
The Plymouth Road Runner was the no-frills muscle car version of intermediate Belvedere and Satellite built by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation in the United States between 1968 and 1975. Plymouth wanted a car able to run 14-second times in the quarter mile (402 meters) and sell for less than US$3000. Both goals were met, and the low-cost muscle car hit the street. The success of the Road Runner would far outpace the upscale and lower volume GTX, with which it was often confused.
This car was found in a barn in Minot, North Dakota. It was owned by a man in a wheelchair until 2001. The car lived it's whole life in North Dakota and has 55,000 miles.
The guy who I bought the car from went to North Dakota to visit his daughter in the Army. He stayed there for a couple of days and went to a car show in Minot, North Dakota. At that car show he started talking Mopars to some random person in a wheelchair, and mentioned that he was looking for a 68-69 Roadrunner. It jus so happened that this random person he was talking to had one in his barn. The guy bought the car off the man in the wheelchair and trailered the car down to South Florida. The car sat for 2 years in the backyard till I found the car and bought it. The car is completely original and needs full restoration. We have completed all the welding, new trunk and quarter panels are in and in the photo albums.
We've started to restore the car and more updates will be added.
