What a beautiful boat! The 327/TH400 combo is definitely more fun than the original 307/PG in my 68 whale.

About

More pics of our 'project in motion', all pre-modification. We are second owner of this former Arizona beauty, sold to us by the mechanic who was the service advisor for the dealer where the car was originally ordered.

The mechanic moved to Norman, OK some years ago, and the owner asked his former service advisor to sell the car up here, so he wouldn't have to see his 'baby' chopped up. I bought the car on the proviso I would keep it true to "Old School" style and not do anything radical or outside its original style 'generation.' I plan to keep that promise.

Specs

275 / 327, TH400, Air, P/S, P/B, Disc Brakes, Tinted glass, STILL runs like a kitten on rebuilt Q-Jet and gets me 12 mpg city, 15-17 highway!

Factory Options

A/C, P/S, P/B (drums all 'round). Orig. owner had Pertronix ignition installed later in his ownership, and ordered car with the 275 HP 327 and TH 400 in place of the base six and Powerglide. Fun combo, eh?

Mods

So far, since these pics he's had a Pertronix ignition conversion, a front disc brake conversion, urethane suspension, new front end suspension, new coil springs all 'round, new shocks, 4-core radiator and high-volume water pump, 1" carb spacer, A/C conversion (from R-12, though it wasn't my first choice) and new tires.

15X8" radials are next (current tires are cheapie Chinese-made things to get me through the winter), to be mounted on Cragar S/S (preferred) or Keystone Kustom Klassic wheels.

That brings up a question: has anyone heard of either of these wheels having big quality-control problems within the last few years???

Impalas and Full-Size Chevys

Is there anyone in the State of Oklahoma who owns a full-size Chevy built up to about 1973? I've been trying to start a chapter of the National Impala Association for 3 years now, but can't seem to get anyone interested! PLEASE, if you're interested, get in...
