- I had two of these, a '75 and a '77, plus an '80 Honcho pickup. Too bad they don't build 'em like this anymore, they were indestructible. Nice ride!

About
This is the Jeep I've been working on for the past few years. It's my first car and I spend more time working on it than driving it. I was originally going to make it a daily driver/trail rig (see the lift in some pics) but plans changed. It's now more of a restomod than anything else I suppose. My father and I did the bodywork and painted it with Dupont Chromasystem black. The interior was redone in a 2-tone blue/black scheme by Appearance products in Grand Rapids. It's rolling on stock wheels with 275/60/15s all the way around. The engine is a built AMC 401 backed by a th400 and Borg-Warner 1305 all-wheel-drive transfer case. I swapped in a 2wd front axle from a CJ-10a and run the transfer case in 4-lock for redneck 2wd. It weighs 4200 lbs with driver. My best time is 14.45 @ 94.9 but it will run much better than that. The stock converter is too tight and is killing it off the line. Either I smoke the tires or bog, nothing in between. I'm going to swap to a 2wd transmission, 3000 stall converter, and 4.11 gears pretty soon.
