1975 Yamaha DT 400 Enduro (Enduro400)

Photo of a 1975 Yamaha DT 400 Enduro (Enduro400)

This is now a 3 owner machine that I bought off Craigslist in November 2008 in Redmond, OR as kind of a birthday present to myself. The guy I bought it from had it for 25 years. One-kick-wonder is the best way to describe this machine. He said that it had the tail light and signals, but he took them off. Had them on a shelf and then he moved and lost them. That's ok, I like a good challenge and am pretty sure I can find originals on ebay...Eventually... -He painted it blue, (cringing right now...) took off the original front metal fender and put on a plastic one. I don't agree with this type of thinking and this bike is otherwise unmolested, so would have been best left alone!!! The ORIGINAL yellow paint is hiding beneath, so I am going to attempt to color sand off the blue, to reveal the original yellow beneath. Factory stripes were taped off, thank god, they are intact. This will be awesome to run around town, terrorize the tourists in Sunriver, take fishing and camping. When I asked him to fire it up, he turned on the gas, squeezed throttle twice, kicke... ~WHAM!!! Braaaappppp Papppaaaaaapapaaaaa Thing sounds wickedly awesome and fired immediately. Nothing like the sound of a two stroke on the street!

From what I can find on the internet, these bikes came out of the factory with 22 HP. Top speed is like 82 MPH. It is a 400 cc air cooled monster.

Factory Options

Enduro package included headlight, tailight and turn signals, USFS approved spark arrestor.

Basically stock, barring the desecration of the paint and front fender, tail light and signals... Soon to be restored to its' original glory!
