The only thing that is 1957 Chevy on this ride is the body which came from a snap-tite kit

In the Drag Racing wars of the early 1960's there were several big name drivers, and one of the best was Dave Strickler, who campaigned cars for Ammon R. Smith Chevrolet in York, PA. The dealership had the nickname "The Old Reliable" for as long as anyone could remember, and that was written on the doors of the cars Strickler raced for them. A young mechanic in Smith's shop turned out to be pretty good at wringing every last horse out of a Chevy W-Block engine... You may have heard of him. Bill Jenkins, better known as "Grumpy". Grumpy Jenkins and Bill Strickler were quite a team in the early 1960's until rule changes and the lure of bigger money from the Ford camp - not to mention a personality clash with Jenkins - took Strickler away from the Ammon R. Smith operation. The dealership closed it's doors in the early 1980's.

I just added battery cables, spark plug wires, the turn signal lever, sun visors, a dimmer switch, the dome light and a driver's seat belt to this one, and reworked the suspension so it sat better, more like the pictures I've seen of the actual car. I added Bare Metal foil to the chrome trim.Yes, the wheels ARE the correct colors, with white in front and black in back!
