My dads he loves his grand prixes, the GXP when my dad herd that they made a grand prix wih a v8 again he had to get one this cars a beast 330 horse power it feels more like 400 and a exhaust thats music to your ears every thing about this car is stock we just cant find any thing to do to it I guess you cant mess with perfection. last summer we took it to two car shows duman lake park witch we place 3rd and portage summerfest we tied for third with a brand new challanger srt8 well guess who won youd be right if you guessed the challanger i guess the year dont matter.
This is my 66 GTO resto from racecar project. Original owners son had the car and wouldn't know a socket wrench from a hammer. He showed me pic's of his Dad with the front wheels waaay up in the air. Thumpin 396 ...This thing hooks! Ended up in the sons yard N sunk in the mudd. Before loading it on the trailer he wanted the dryrotted slicks and skinney's. He gave a set of 14in rims that I had to put tires on to move it, and a bunch of other stuff. OMG It was the alot of original interior, Some the chrome trim off the car, seats, and boxes of misc parts!
After gettin it home, like any gearhead spent a couple O days gettin the THUMPIN 396 to fire up. The front end was sooo trashed the only time I've driven the car was 2 houses down to the end of the street. Where I almost nailed the stop sign when the only working brake locked up on the front pass side. Rebuilt the entire frontend and upgraded to drilled/slotted disk brake system. Being a Pontiac purest, I still can't believe I found a running, in the showcar, 421 SD tripower motor. Gbye Chevy. But after pullin the motor confirmed a couple of major frame issues. Torque twist, bending the dr side front up. Have waited all summer to get it in to the frame shop when the owner had some time to work/measure by hand. Somethin tells me this is gonna cost! YEP I had to replace the frame, then transfer the all new suspension pieces from the ol frame. Front to rear. Floorpans/braces/all suspension on/body is back on the frame...Til rust do ya part! 4-23 Engines in, headers slide right into place! No clearance issues. Flowmaster CHALLENGE 50 Delta's (Thankz everyone) Got my 1st ride Aug 16th! Lot of small things to weed out and upgrade.
the burgandy color (ruby) on the gxp grand prix was a special order for 6 days in one year and they only made 700 some odd gxp grand prix in ruby

The car was original 4spd, 389 single carb. No A/C, bucket seats, factory gauge cluster, tach in dash. Ok to save weight they cut out every inch of wiring in the car! Wire for wire have replaced all lighting N turn sig's. building my own harness. Dash wiring is now complete.

Complete new front suspension, tie rods ect, disk brake upgrade. 421 HAS taken its rightful spot between the framerails., New Craigers 14in F 15in R with Sticky Mickeys on all 4 corners. New floorpans/braces, body mounts, new body mount perches, replaced one grill and both turnsig's in front, All new rocker/wheelwell chrome. Old stuff didn't survive storage well. Even found a factory AM radio to fill the hole in dash. Only took 4yrs to find or build every part to complete the car. Seats reupolstered will be the next $$ spent.
