The Associated Car Clubs of Kansas City is a non-profit association of about 30 local car clubs in the greater Kansas City area. Its goal is to promote car club activity in Kansas City and surrounding communities while generally to support the automotive hobby in this area.
ACCKC provides a valuable forum for addressing issues of common concern to all car clubs and hobbyists. Among other things, this includes monitoring legislative activity, coordinating car show schedules and helping vehicle owners locate and connect with the car clubs that will suit their needs.
One of ACCKC's other main functions is the sponsorship of several charitable fund-raising events, primarily benefiting the Ararat Shrine's Wings of Mercy project over many years as well as other charities.
ACCKC was founded in 1970, when four Kansas City-area clubs pooled their efforts to hold a benefit car show on the Country Club Plaza. Despite a downpour rain, the show attracted a surprising 62 classic cars and raised $770 for Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Encouraged by that success, the four clubs quickly organized to make the shows an annual event. Soon more clubs were coming on board to help out, and in time the association began to expand its range of activities.
