We have been launching between 4800and 5400 for the last few seasons, with no chip installed and the t-brake on the rpm would hit about 5800....rolling in the pits in second and hitting the loud pedal the rpm would hit around the 4800 mark.
Torque converters are a bit of a mystery to me (as well as most of us out here) and based off those two numbers we either weren't far off or we were way off??
We had the 4200 chip in at the beginning of this season because I wanted to ease into the new combo...based on the 60ft times so far I'm liking it!
We'll try the 5000 again and probably even the 5400 just to see what the results are...maybe it's just the tires getting worn a little as we have about 70 passes on them currently....we usually can get about 150 passes on a good set.
I'll set the launch as low as we can get away with and still get the wheels up and a good 60ft time and I think the 7200 to 7300 shift point range is about where we want this combo to be too, we were going through the lights right in that range too.
We've got a heavier-duty front brake kit coming in for the car this week...the liteweight stuff is just not going to cut it with the weight/speed we're running...so if you know of anyone looking for a great deal on a Wilwood Kit 140-4503 we'll have this one up for sale soon.
