Several people have asked about the parks we will visit on this year's run. Here is some general information:

We will be driving through Badlands National Park on Monday, July 15th-There will be a $15 fee per car so you will need to have exact change to move us through faster.

On Tuesday morning July 16th-We will head as a group to Mount Rushmore-we will take a group picture with Rushmore as a backdrop and then you will be free to explore the park-They are offering us a discounted entrance fee of $11 you will have to have exact change and pay for your ticket AT THE BEST WESTERN when we check in on Monday afternoon.

On Wednesday morning July 17th-we will travel the Custer State Park wildlife loop on our way to Laramie, WY. They are allowing us to forgo the $15 fee and just pay $1 but this ticket also has to be purchased at the BEST WESTERN on Monday afternoon when you check in.

IMPORTANT: Recap-you will need exact change of $12 to purchase entrance to both Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. you must purchase these tickets from the Rapid City CVB representative who will be at the Best Western when we check in. (Fee is per car not per person)

After the Mount Rushmore visit, runners will have free time to explore the area. There are multiple possibilities. You could visit the Crazy Horse monument, take a 2 hour cruise to Devil's tower Wyoming (This was made famous by the movie Close Encounters of the 3rd kind) explore the town of Deadwood (there is a car museum there as well as casinos) you could visit Spearfish and cruise the Spearfish canyon scenic byway. Tons of possibilities so start looking around online and deciding what to do with your freetime on Tuesday. That evening we will have an optional chuckwagon dinner and show at Fort Hays. The fort was built for the movie Dances with Wolves. i will start another post to let you know how to purchase discount tickets to the dinner.

As I posted on the Facebook page: Those 62 and older can purchase a $10 Lifetime Pass that gets you admission to ALL National Parks and recreation areas.
