Originally posted by solargold Glad the rig will make the trip and will definitely miss Mark and Deb. I am itching to get going. Took the car out for a 2 hour ride and we are good to go with a wipe down. My wife has decided to stay back and to make room for 2 new runners, my dad and my 15 year old son. My 3rd trip and now bringing 3 generations along.
Now, someone please tell me "why are we doing this?"
Originally posted by Eredin Well, it appears luck is not on our side. Our paint guy fell through on getting the car done on time. We could risk it and have it done on time for the run, but the paint will not have nearly enough time to cure. The road and bugs would eat it apart so we're not going to risk having to redo it.
We've been looking forward to this since we found out about it, but we'll have to just catch some beach time on the gulf instead since our vacation is already in place. We'll be 10-10 on the side.
Originally posted by THEBANDIT I had a new rear axle put in my car, So I go to drive it to get the A/C worked on and you won't believe what happend. I am driving out of my neighborhood and the rear end locks completly up and spins me out in my neighborhood! When I get it to the shop and take the rear cover off the rear end there is a DEEP WELL SOCKET laying in my rear end! I am so pissed. Its tore up my ring rear and pinion and maybe more. I told the shop that put the axle in and I hope they will cover the cost without me having to make a lawsuit. I just can not believe the guy left a socket in my rear end! I am so mad because this slows all my plans down plus all the adding frustration getting the other guy to pay for the repairs.
Originally posted by WS6inferno Finally made my hotel reservations!!! The Braselton Country Inn has no spots left in the Bandit block. Had to get a room with out the Bandit discount. Guy still gave me like 10 dollars off and its only 10 more than the Bandit rate. So I said book it!

This is why I do my own mechanical work! Thats a major fail on their part and a dumb move not to make sure the chunk is clear of all debris before reassembly. Sorry to hear and hope everything gets worked out for you.
Shaker, thats an excellent idea, but it just wouldn't be the same. We want to be able to bring our car on our first run and we've already made plans with the couple that was going with us on the run. They were initially going to take their 79 Camaro but they don't think the motor will make the full run and they can't afford to feed the 8 MPG it gets, lol. We'll just have to catch you all next year. Who knows, maybe we will see some of you at the TA Nats later this year!
