Photos in the “2012 Paw Paw Memorial Day Weekend Show” Album
Description: Each year I organize a car show to go along with the Memorial Day weekend parade that our town has. The show features top 30 trophies for pre-1980, top 10 trophies for 1980 and newer, plus Veteran's Choice and Longest Distance, and this year we added Judge's Choice and Sponsor's Choice trophies. We also give goody bags to the first 75 registered vehicles, and we have really nice door prizes and trivia question prizes, plus a 50/50 drawing. We have a live DJ who this year spun classic vinyl records from the 50's-70's. We also added children's games this year such as a hula hoop contest, pushrod drop, fan belt toss, bubble blowing contest, and coloring contest. You can also enter your car in the grand feature parade we have through town in the afternoon and win an additional 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place award.
This year we had 61 registered show vehicles, plus my 3 cars and a few others that were on the show field for the parade but didn't register for the show. The turnout was less than I expected, but not bad. The number of spectators was up significantly this year, probably because we had more food vendors and we did more advertising. The weather was terribly hot and humid, with a good chance of rain forcast. It stayed dry for the show but bad storms rolled through in the evening. After the awards, a number of people cruised up to the Super Cruise in Cumberland, MD to finish out the day. Join us next year!
