Description: REAL BARN FIND...PONTIAC FIREBIRD 400 CONVERTIBLE
From 1989 to 1999, this Firebird languished in a barn in Washington Township, MI, where it was finally rescued and restored in Sterling Heights, MI, by some very talented tech school students.
This Firebird was highlighted in the October 2001 High Performance Pontiac magazine with a 4 page spread documenting the entire body off restoration. I have a copy of this magazine you can view. You can view the original magazine feature article on my new-old cruiser at ...... www.highperfo...iac_firebird/
It was also shown in the February 2001 Detroit Autorama Car Show where it won in its class.
This awesome cruiser is a 1969 Firebird 400 - 345HP convertible (dyno tested) has a numbers matching engine and Turbo 400 YT code auto tranny with Ram Air III cast iron exhaust manifolds. It just went over 60,000 original miles and had a body off restoration completed in 2001. It has PS, PB (disk in front), Power windows, top and antenna. This 400 engine & turbo 400 tranny were rebuilt in 2000, and had an upgrade with an Edelbrock intake and Demon double pumper 750 carb. I still have the original intake and Rochester carb along with the original Rally II 14 inch wheels. It currently has 16" aluminum Weld wheels on the car. The Bird also in 2008 had new undercarriage upgrade with new welded sub frame connectors. In 2010 SSBC front disks and larger Stage 3 rear combo kit drum brakes were installed. The undercarriage has never seen rain or a puddle and has a stainless steel exhaust system and mufflers. It has the original radio along with a newer Pioneer stereo /CD player installed in the trunk.
This is one of only 11,649 Firebird convertibles made in 1969, and is one of no more than 1,649 "400" convertibles and 985 Firebird 400's made with with 400ci engine and automatic trans. Also, it has power everything or was loaded with features that probably makes it one of less than 500 "fully optioned" 400 convertibles if only half of them came this way.
I have the original build sheet, (plus PHS documents) all receipts from 1969 to 1977, 1989, and 2000 to 2013. I am the 5th owner and have all the names of the past owners.
