Photos in the “My `65 Ford Custom 2door Post” Album
Description: I have seen many a fine Galaxie in my time, yet to find a `65 two door sedan has been tough. My little Ford came to me back in 1983. I saved it from a back yard for the price of $765.00 cdn and from there we did a little bit of up-grades, most of what you see in these photos are what we did back in 1986-`87. Paint is a mix of `86 Lincoln Garnett Red metallic with Red pearl clear coat. The Ford Customs were fleet cars, and this one did not even have a radio or carpets and especially no chrome. The motor now is a `68 390-GT with.030 over with the usually speed stuff, crane cam, lifters, Edelbrock intake with Holley 770 carb the trans is a C-6 Auto with B&M shift kit and 3500 stall converter. The rear gears were a set of 4.11`s but we went to a set of Zoom 3.50`s for a road trip down to Reno`s Hot August nights in 2005. ( Hotel was $400.00 fuel was $1,100.00 ) lol
Before the trip down to Reno my wife Carla and I changed the interior, Carla did the door panels and rear seat to match the `94 Mercury Cougar 6way power seats, hey you need some kind of comfort on those long road trips.
One of the questions I get asked at the Show `n` Shines is "what is it"?, I reply it`s a "Ford Custom" ! They say, "yes I know it`s Custom" but what is it? "A `65 Ford"! What Kind? "A Custom"!..... It`s just like the old Abbott and Costello, who`s on first, what`s on second routine.
