1950 Studebaker Champion Deluxe (SHAKEnBAKER)

Photo of a 1950 Studebaker Champion Deluxe (SHAKEnBAKER)

My car was purchased in STOCK CONDITION for $1500.00 CDN.
The body was in reasonable shape with minimal through rust
(or so it seemed, pre-chemical bath).
The body was stripped of everything and taken off the frame.
The body then was sent for a chemical bath.
A new firewall and floor were welded in place to accommodate
the new engine, trans, driveshaft and rear-end suspension, it was then etch primed.

A custom 3x5 boxed frame was welded up and features a Mustang II crossmember with Horton's Evolution IFS tubular upper & lower control arms, Mustang spindles and a power rack, '78 Granada 11" rotors and calipers. A shortened 8 3/4" Posi Sure-Grip Dodge with Bear Racing Axles, '96 Intrepid 11" rotors, '87 TransAm calipers & backing plates, Air Ride Technologies Triangulated 4 Link with their Ride ProE computer controlled Shockwave Air Bags.

A Blown 350/355 SBC 4 bolt main mated to a TH350 Turbo Race Automatic with a 3000 stall, B&M Pro Bandit shifter, B&M 144 Blower, 700 cfm Holley Double Pumper, 882 large chamber iron heads, mild street cam, etc. and a pair of custom made Corvette styled 4" side pipes and collectors. The engine was dyno'd at 400 hp 460 ft.lbs. torque w/ 7 lbs of blower boost. The front of the engine has a polished Billet Specialties Tru-Trac System.
Summit Racing stainless 16 gal. fuel cell.

The rear fenders were widened 2" and welded to the body. A custom rear roll pan eliminates the bumper and custom ducktailed trunk lid houses the licence plate light. Left rear taillight hinges open to reveal the gas filler neck. The roof was chopped 3" which turned out better then anticipated after weeks of pondering the chop and retaining the stock rear window frame with it's tempered glass. Front sheetmetal was welded together and is now a remote tilt clip with 2 / 400lb. actuators.

Infiniti Tan Leather Interior, VDO Gauges, Custom Aluminum Gauge Bezel, Vintage Air, Ididit Stainless Tilt Steering Column, Grant Wheel.

Rolling on a set of 18" American Eagle wheels on BFG KDW 275/40ZR rear 245/40ZR front
