Rescued this truck from the scrap pile. the man i got it from was going to scrap it, My wife found out from the mans son that works where she doe's.So we made a appointment to go look at it and what i found was a good truck,Well some may not have thought so but when you have fooled with these things as long as i have you look beyond the rust and missing parts and see a potential show winner. So a deal was made and i went the next day and retrieved my new toy.I knew that i wanted a big block in it and big tires out back,So that set the stage for a pro-street truck that i have wanted for some time now.I started asking around and found a 402 that a friend of mine had,at first he told me he didn't want to sell it.then i was off on one of our car things and he called me and said he would sell it so i went and got it the next week.My now ex-brother in law found me a 400 turbo and my buddy Tom gave me a ford 9 inch and it didn't even have to be cut its out of a 70 mustang but it was last under a camaro so it fit good.
Engine 1971 402-375 horse power from the factory, its bored 60 over and has 10 to 1 dome pistons.heads have ben worked to handle the 300 540 crane cam.
Hooker competition headers and home made stainless steel mufflers with 2and 1/2 exhaust pipes let the ground pounding big block breath
456 gears with mini spool. Hey every one I changed the 456 gears to 370 gears to give me better gas mileage and to be able to drive it further without trailering it. I realy liked the 456 gear for playing but it was not as much fun not being able to drive it more.
Mainly just the body all else has ben modified
Rear springs reversed and moved to the inside to make room for the big tires.
bed has be tubed and metal is now where wood used to be.A built in tool box keeps the battery safe and hid,the bed floor was raised to make room for the gas tank in the middle of the bed section of the frame.the bed rails were removed and 2x4 tubing was welded to the only remaining part of the original bed
which is the flat sides. the stake pockets were replaced with the same 2x4 tubing and made to look like the old ones.
the truck has bucket seats and a hand made console with cup holders. The seats are mounted to a costume frame that bolts in the factory bolt holes. It has new after market doors that was not easy to make fit the cab. don't recommend changing doors unless there is no other way, thats about it for now till i get some more done.
