Another picture of my '64 Karmann Ghia coupe. A mostly original car, purchased 5/21/64 from a VW dealership in Boca Roton, FL. The car made its way to the Atlanta area, and then later to Mannsfield OH. I bought it from the fourth owner.
I've modified it for street/strip action, while keeping all of the original parts. Someday I hope to restore it back to stock. But for now, I'm enjoying it in its "quick" state.
Future plans call for a much wilder engine displacing 2332cc's. The car should be capable of mid-to-high 11 second quartermile times with the new engine. Its a 12.80 ride currently.
Currently 2054cc's. Italian Weber 48 IDA's, original Lonnie Reed Wedge Port cylinder heads. Tony Mance 74mm crankshaft. Scat I-Beam 5.400" connecting rods. 94mm Mahle pistons/cylinders. Engle FK10 camshaft (310 dur. x .540" lift) with Autocraft 1.4 ratio rockers.
Gearbox features a 3.885 ring/pinion combo, with a complete set of ERCO gears (4.25/2.46/1.70/1.31).
Complete set of Erco spun aluminum wheels with a custom offset in the rears to fit inside the tight Ghia fenderwell area. Original Michelin 135 radials up front and either 7" Firestone slicks or 195/65/15 rubber in the rear.
