This is a car I almost forgot about owning because it was never finished. As a teen in Tweed, Ontario I remember there was a new red 1965 327 4 speed Beaumont running around town in it and I loved the way it looked and sounded. He seldom street raced it or even pushed it but you could tell it was fast. If you were there you would remember the car, Carters Beaumont.
The mid sixties in Tweed was my Canadian equivilent of American Graffitti. The was Woodys 65 Falcon 289, a hot 55 Chev 2 door post, 64 Galaxie 390 rag of Goods, 65 Mercury Montclair 390, 65 Impala SS 409 and of course Squares 36 Ford coupe which were only a few doing the loop cruising the main street and through the Pavillion park while the Saturday night dance rocked on. Anyone out there part of this time and place? For me I never really went back, brief visit at the start of the 70s but it wasnt the same for me anymore.
I have managed to own most of the significant cars of my youth, this one was bought outside Peterborough in the early 90s in sad shape, a 283 automatic, rust issues as well as other problems. Kept it for about 6 months or so, did some work on it then sold it. A very memorable car for me but unfortunately not this specific one. Now if it had been that 65 of Carters.....I may have hung onto it.
