"Photographs and Memories"
Trophies: 24 Give this video a trophy

This video tells the story of our time with my '66 Corvair Monza coupe, "Ashley", from the time we picked her up in Denver and drove her home to Philly in May 2003 through our years with her to our final trip with her, delivering her to her new owner in August 2009. It's my first atempt at video-making, so it's a little rough, but it was a labor of love. I set it to Jim Croce's beautiful but mournful song "Photographs and Memories" about fnding and losing one's true love - kind of overstating it a bit, but Ashley was the best Corvair I've ever owned so I think it's appropriate.

Jim, my heart goes out to you. This video is a great tribute to what you clearly saw as much more than just another car. I've never had a "relationship" with a car as strong as you seemed to have with Ashley. One way or another, some day, you'll get her back. I'm sure of it! Hang in there, buddy!

You did a great job on this, Jim. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I know how you feel, because if I had to ever let Babe go, my heart would be breaking too. Babe likes her little sister and hope you can get another Ashley one day or even get her back.

Truly a work of love l can appreciate this, as one car love to another.
Well done, guys.

A great first video. Hell, it's a great video, PERIOD! The pictures and the music combine to show your feelings about what you had and what you feel you lost. "Ashley II" is out there somewhere, and in time she'll come to you.

I know how you feel Jim, I had to sell my 1977 Firebird years ago and I still miss that car. I would trade my vette today to get that car back.

Here are some more comments sent to me directly by friends via regular messages:
"nice video of your car!" - countryman
"Sorry you had to sell your car, nice memorial video. Life it self is more important than a car and hopefully you may find some better days and being able too buy a new one." - CUSTOMSWEDE
That brought a tear to my eye , most people would say hey, it's only a car, Not true , it's something that is part of us as we put so much time and love into these buggys for what ever reason it's hard to see them go. I just sold my 66 blue corsa and my red 65 monza last week after years of putting them into top condition , they had to go so others that I have can be returned to their former glory, this is what I do now that I am retired , as I also love these cars. Some day you will have another to care for.
"Thanks for the memories" - firevair66
"looks like you and that car has been a lot of places " - chaseumall
"A real tear jerker,,,,merry x-mas jim...... " - jphillips
Many thanks to those of you who chose to respond personally as well, and I hope you don't mind my adding those 'personal' comments to the ones that were attached directly to this video.

God Bless you all,

Our thanks go out to all of you who have taken the time to look at my video. making it was truly a labor of love. Responses like these show me how much my friends care about me and Rose. "Ashley" is just a car, but a car that meant a lot to us. God willing, there will be a time when we can afford to buy another Corvair, if not buy Ashley back from the gentleman to whom we sold her. Until then, we have these "Photographs and Memories" to carry us through... Them and the prayers, the love, and the good wishes of our friends! God Bless you all.
