Description: Originally a 1967 Mercury Comet 202 with 200cid 6cyl, Automatic and Power steering. No radio, power brakes or carpet. The only options they ordered on this car were the automatic and the power steering (both I removed).
Now it is a 302 V8, 4 speed top loader and manual steering (drips less oil this way :)).
Dad restored it (mostly) and showed me the almost finished project Christmas 2009). He had kept it a secret even when I was talking about selling it to find another one in a little better shape. Come a visit home and he mentioned "that dent on the drivers side isn't there any more". We went down to the storage garage; and there it was. All shinny new inside and out.
The guy that painted it said it was the hardest color he's ever painted (Stock: Wimbledon white). There are still some flaws in the paint, but I'm not complaining. The big dent/scratch ding on my side is gone, the interior is all smelling fresh and new (carpet, headliner, door panels, kick panels, back seat panels and weather trim).
Once I'm finished over here in Japan I plan on putting an IFS front end under it, getting a set of steel "looking" wheels, putting my dog bowl hubcaps on them and dropping a big block (427 or 428 FE or 429/460 385 block don't know yet; we've got both ready to go) under the hood and start looking for new interior parts in earnest (dash plastic is pretty faded/dull).
