The AMX has been a personal favourite and I have owned several of them over the years. My preference was either 1968 or 1969 and amazingly they are all different. My 1968 was white but began as a silver car with a 290 and a four speed. Interesting story in that I came across an ad in a newspaper back in 1983 for it. It was in a large shed in the small town of Bondhead and had not been run for at least 10 years. The owner bought it new, drove it for a few years then stored it in the mid 1970s when his son reached age 16. His rationale was get it off the road so his son would not get the opportunity to drive it because he just saw it as too powerful. While negoiating for it another fellow showed up who had an AMX and wanted to buy it for some needed parts. We came to terms on I would buy it and then sell him the few he needed. It needed lots of TLC and bodywork but evenually I got there with it ready to paint. The first and last time for me to paint a car was this one. My wife and I took it to a do it yourself shop and actually did a decent enough job that I was able to trade it off for a nice 1969 Corvette a year later.
Still in the Lindsey area having seen it at a cruise night about 5 years ago. Now red.
