I've always loved these cars. If Chevy had put a V-8 in the Vega, nobody would remember the grief that the aluminum 4-banger caused them!

1975 Chevrolet Monza Towne Coupe (ol girl)

Photo of a 1975 Chevrolet Monza Towne Coupe (ol girl)

When I was 16 I bought a 1975 Monza Towne Coupe from a friend, 350 4 speed saginaw. I was young and dumb, the car got vandalized and I sold it to a local salvage yard. Ever since I sold it I wanted it back. However the car was pretty far gone by the time I actually got my life stable enough, and could afford to take on a project car.

One day I was surfin Craigslist, and ran across another 75 Monza Towne Coupe, and it was just a hop skip and a small jump from where I live. I called the guy up and he told me that it was a factory v8 car with a Saginaw 4 speed tranz. Sight un seen I told him I would be there in 30 minutes with a traler to pick up the car.

The car had been sitting in a barn since 1992(19 years), and He had bought it brand spanking new from Koons Chevrolet in Wymore Nebraska in 1975.

As I was wenching the car on to the trailer he sat behind the wheel and guided it up the trailer, with a smile on his face that would light up the whole world.

After strapin it down, I shook his hand and told him "thank you very much". He replied "take good care of her"....."with out a doubt" I told him.

262 cubic inch V8, Saginaw 4 speed. I just bought the car a few days ago and have not had any time to do a whole lot of wrenching on it. But plans are to pull the 262, and replace it with a .060 over plat top piston 305, with a small block 400 steal crank, and 487x heads.
