Similar story for me. I was in Okinawa (97-00) and was wanting another 2nd Gen T/A really bad so I bought one online before I even left the island (not the smartest thing) lol.

1986 Chevrolet El Camino (Cammie)

Last updated Jan 30, 2009

Photo of a 1986 Chevrolet El Camino (Cammie)

Well I had been overseas in Japan for about 4 years and when I got back I had already had my wife's Jeep Patriot lined up for her, but for me, I wanted a truly unique American car. The El Camino was perfect for me. I found it on Craigslist for $1500, and I talked the guy down to $1200. Not bad for a running project, albeit with shotty electronics and a new leak everyday. A total rebuild of everything under the hood and everything in the interior are well overdue, and she wasn't well maintained, but for not much more that a grand, I got the project car I really wanted. Plans are on hold for her until either I finish paying off my other cars, or the motor or trans finally just give out. Both are slow and weezey, yet just will not die. Anyway, check back for more pics and updates.

It's got a 305 and 4 speed automatic, both stock and in serious need of rebuild.

Factory Options

It's got 3 things I had to have in my Elky
1 Power steering
2 Bench seat for my girl to slide next to me
3 AC, also in serious need of replacement

Nothing yet, but I am looking for an SS front spoiler from 79-83 and a custom Royal Knight paint job.
