In December, 1992, I saw this car on a used car lot in San Jose, CA. As my little CRX Si was having ECU problems, I thought now would be a good time to get the car I wanted when I bought the CRX. I went directly to the car wash, had it detailed and returned to the dealership. After a test drive (wouldn't have mattered anyway, i was young and stupid as the day is long), I traded the CRX in on the Porsche. I know I got royally screwed on the financing but it didn't matter, I had a Porsche 944.
Well, as it turned out, it had been a police auction car... formerly owned by a drug-runner and the right-side suspension had been damaged during a high-speed pursuit and the small dings at the quarter window were from small-arms fire, not shopping carts. Well, it made for interesting conversation at concours and autocrosses.
Well, when items eventually failed and required replacing (suspension, cylinder head, engine block, etc.) I replaced them with upgrades.
