I got my first car for free from my grandfather. It was a beat up 1988 Beretta GT 2.8mpfi automatic. I drove that for 2years and fell in love with it. I decided it would cost too much money to make it how i wanted it, so I decided to look for one to build up. I found a black 1991 Beretta GTZ with the 2.3L Quad4. It didn't last very long, less than a week. Blew the motor. So went back to driving the 88' and looking for something I really wanted. I learned everything about the 3400swap from Bstuff.com. Decided to look for the car I really wanted, a V6 5-speed, preferably black with a sunroof. A couple months later I found this car on ebay for less than a grand. It was everything I wanted except for the mileage, and ended up winning this car for $600.
It needed a new motor mount, a quick tune-up, and it ran good. Drove the car for 2 full years, until the clutch started slipping pretty bad. At that point I had already gathered a 3400engine and started prepping it to go in. It still wasnt ready to go in, but the clutch had already completely gone, so it was either spend the money to replace the clutch, or start the swap now. So I pulled the engine and bought my new lightweight flywheel from Fidanza, and Spec Stage2 clutch. Finished prepping the motor, and was set to drop it in. This was my first engine swap with limited tools and knowlege, but the people on the Bstuff forum assured me I would be able to pull it off. So with the help from 2 of my best friends, and the support of the forum I started the swap. From the time the clutch went, to the time of first start up, was a full year. I encountered a bunch of stupid mistakes during the swap, but I also learned a lot. I bet with proper prepping and tools, I could pull this swap off in a weekend. It took me another 2 months to get the car on the road from first start up. October 3, 2008 the car is officially on the road. Thanks to everyone on Bstuff.com and my close friends. I love my Beretta.
