Description: N.E.S.T. - some back story - Non biological, Extra-terrestrial Special Teams
N.E.S.T. is a military organization in the live-action film series continuity family.
Following the disbanding of Sector Seven, NEST was set up under William Lennox to create a combined United States Military/Autobot defense force against Decepticons. Though originally an American-Autobot military alliance, it soon expanded to include armed forces from the United Kingdom and other nations.
Approximately one month after the events in Mission City, Sector Seven inadvertently reactivated the Decepticon Wreckage and simultaneously attracted the attention of Starscream, and the subsequent battle leveled Sector Seven's Nevada bunker, costing dozens of lives. Secretary of Defense Keller immediately terminated the clandestine group's operations upon learning of the incident.
In the aftermath, Captain Lennox tried to convince his dubious and hostile superiors at the Pentagon that the Autobots were indeed trustworthy and would be a valuable asset. His superiors impressed upon him that in order for the military to provide full disclosure, the Autobots must cooperate fully, and that the unit was Lennox's responsibility now. After the burial-at-sea of Jazz, Optimus Prime and Lennox agreed that for the protection of their mutual homeworld, they must trust each other and work together as a single team. Sometime later, the newly formed NEST command commenced training at the military base on Diego Garcia. Alliance #3
Per the government’s orders all Autobots that are involved with NEST must be given a NBE (Non-Biological Extraterrestrial) identification number. This began with NBE1, aka Megatron who crashed on Earth after getting his telemetry scrambled when he passed to close to Earth’s magnetic field while searching for the Allspark. After being moved to the Hoover Dam testing site along with the Allspark by Sector 7, Megatron was given his NBE1 designation. Now all Autobots within the NEST team are registered and have extensive files held within the file rooms of the Pentagon. Here, for example, is Dryshot's.
NEST had a baptism of fire against the Decepticon scouts Swindle and Dead End in San Francisco: the mission was successful although Lennox was criticized for allowing the Autobots to transform on the Golden Gate Bridge. NEST expanded to a multinational force and began taking on Decepticon agents across Earth: Fracture and Overcast were destroyed in Europe, while Dropkick and Incinerator were defeated in Florida. NEST's victories were tempered with the ultimate sacrifice, such as when Salani died battling Jetstorm. When Bumblebee redeployed back to the 'States as Sam Witwicky's guardian, NEST received a much-needed boost in Transformers ranks when Sideswipe, Arcee, Skids and Mudflap came to Earth. This joy was short-lived, however: the Decepticon Demolishor had been sighted in Shanghai, China.
Two Autobots are located on both sides of the country to keep an eye out for Decepticons should they arrive...
Florida - Dryshot - The history of Dryshot -
Before the war, during the "Golden Age" on Cybertron - Headers, Dryshot, Barricade, Jazz, Sunstreaker and many other robots fueled up their turbines and participated in the Cybertronian races. These were all out, go big or go home, races held along the dunes of the Tyger Pax Province. Out of the group there were two friends, Headers and Dryshot.
Headers was always more of the extreme one sporting a more stylish exterior package than his friend. Sleek ground effects and chromed out power converters adorned the sides of Headers. Also a very hi-tech audio system was packaged inside, which made Headers an excellent choice for recon missions. These details help explain his Earth vehicle disguise very well.
When the war started sides were chosen, Barricade and countless others sided with Megatron due to his talk of conquest and power for his "superior" group of warriors while Headers, Dryshot and many other peace loving robots sided with Optimus Prime and his "Autobot" faction.
During the war on Cybertron Dryshot spent most of his time in the conduit sewers that ran beneath the surface of the planet. Since Optimus Prime and a small group of high ranking Autobots left Cybertron when they learned of the location of the Allspark, the slowly dwindling number of remaining Autobots were fighting a losing battle at this point and most had went "underground". Dryshot was no exception. Only sneaking top side to steal what small Energon reserves he could find all while trying to avoid Shockwave's "Extermination Squads".
Dryshot would also hit the surface to take out any Decepticons that strayed into the alley ways of the city. In his mind he was helping the Autobot cause by scrapping a few Decepticons at a time. Though this scavenger/guerrilla fighter lifestyle was not for him, he realized that he needed to continue to survive until more Autobots could be found.
Upon hearing Optimus Prime's message that a new home was found on Earth Dryshot came out of hiding. After successfully evading three of Shockwaves trackers and dispatching two others he managed to stumble upon a small shuttle. After some minor repair work he blasted off. Using a nearby asteroid belt to mask the ship's signal he set a course for Earth and began the long journey toward his new home.
Flash forward to 2009. Dryshot arrives on Earth after hearing Optimus's transmission after the Mission City incident ... He lands on Earth in a heavliy wooded area near a strip mall on the outskirts of town. In his protoform he scans a 2000 red Trans Am WS.6 that is sitting in an nearly empty parking lot at a local dive bar. When the owner goes inside Dryshot makes his move picking up the T/A as quietly as possible. 3000 some odd pounds isn't really a problem for his actuators, gears and arm joint pistons to handle, but the noise is. He carefully carries the car to a pond near the rear of the bar, heaving the vehicle into it. Fortunately the bar is very isolated and the patrons are mostly hammered ! He then transforms and sits in the Trans Ams place. As the driver returns he gets into the car and begins to drive home. This driver was not there to drink but to collect money on a debt. Dryshot shuts down all automatic systems and lets the human take him home.
Once in the garage of the human's house he checks out his surroundings. The garage is filled with auto memorabilia and tools. "Obviously a car nut, thinks Dryshot ... This may not be so bad after all." He then checks out the appearance of his new Earth vehicle mode. He likes the overall profile due to his introverted, no frills nature. Subtle body mods, mainly just a couple of callout badges are affixed to his side moldings. There is a deep but not harsh grumble from his Borla cat-back exhaust. Though he is happy with his new Earth disguise it's what's inside the disguise that counts to Dryshot. What he is not subtle about is his horsepower, choosing to let his modded LS1 V8 and 150 shot of nitrous do the talking when he pounces on unsuspecting Decepticons.
He is assigned by Optimus Prime to monitor Decepticon activity in the Florida area where two Decepticons were recently reported to have been seen ( Dropkick and Incinerator ) He also learns of the arrival of Headers, who is stationed in Arizona for the same mission and quickly contacts him to greet his old friend.
Dryshot's "owner" also has a daily driver that he uses during the week, giving the Autobot ample time to hack into his home computer to scan for suspiscious Decepticon activity.
On December 12 2009 Dryshot's "owner", Jason Miller caught him in robot mode attempting to leave the house at night. After hearing the garage door open Jason rushed to the front of the house. To his surprise, there stood a 13 ft. tall robot with pieces attached to him that resembled HIS TRANS AM !!! Luckily no one else saw this since Jason's house is located at the rear of the neighborhood with nothing but trees to witness this event. With calm demeanor Dryshot explained the whole situation to him. It also helped in the explanation process that Jason was completely speechless !! With this knowledge he and Dryshot agreed to keep the secret from anyone else. In exchange for using Jay's services, computer and housing, Dryshot agreed to let Jason help the Autobots in their hunt. After explaining all the night's events to Optimus he agreed.
He now accompanies Dryshot on missions to locate and intercept Decepticons who are hidden in the Southeast quadrant of the United States.

This guy also has a Transformers converted car that I've come across since I've been on Car Domain ...
