Hey mwg55,

I also used to have a older jeep grand cherokee. 2000 limited edition. I agree that the acceleration is less on my 06', but i like the drive of the car a bit better. However, I too have had problems with mine. I assumed that since i have always had a jeep that allowing my parents to get me another without test driving it would be fine. But i wish i had my older one back, I have had to put in about 1500 dollars for engine problems, jerking around when driving and having it stall, with the 5.7 V-8 hemi engine and have heard from others who have the same vehicle have had the same problem. I dont think I would ever buy another jeep again without analyzing certain aspects. Although, the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is very nice and I am considering trading my 06' for one once they come out, after I really look at the car's ratings and problems it may have after it's been out for a year or so.

About

I bought this car new in May of 2001, it is a limited and also the limited 60th anniversary edition of the Grand Cherokee. This edition was fully loaded and the 5 spoke chrome wheels were only available on the anniversary model at the time. They were also only available in black or silver.
I sold this car to buy a new 2006 Grand Cherokee, what a mistake, I really liked my '01 alot better. Even though it has the same engine, the accelleration is much less.
It has the worst paint quality I have ever seen on a new car. I should have rejected it at the dealer but I didn't.
I didn't like the chrome wheels available on the '06 Jeeps so I had the dealer swap wheels to the old 5 spoke chrome. The only problem now is that the tire pressure system does not work and the warning light is always present on the dash.
If I keep it much longer I may buy sensors and install in the wheels, if that will even work.
