Took a random test drive and came back just wanting the car ... so I bought it.
Surprisingly quick with a turbo 1.6 engine and the longer wheelbase really does give a better feel in handling.
My last and only previous Mini was an original in the dawn of pre-history. This new car is NOT a Mini, other than by name - it's just got a few styling cues. If only the original Cooper S had had 175 bhp!
I also drove a JCW Mini a few days ago - 208 bhp! Wonder how much I could sell the Jag XJR for?!!
New Reg Dec 09: S2 SYX
Turbo'd 1.6 straight 4, 175 bhp
6-speed manual with cruise (how odd is that!)
5 doors - well ... 2 in the tailgate, 2 on the offside (one suicide door) and 1 on the nearside. Suicide door on the wrong side for UK (Oz, NZ, SA, Japan, etc.) but who cares!
Stop/Start Eco (save the planet) feature (switching THAT off every trip!)
Eco "change up" indicator (switching THAT off too!)
Too numerous to list, but:
Cooper S Clubman with Chili Pack and a goodly number of options added, including 17" alloys, run-flat Dunlops, blacked-out rear windows etc.
Added Tom-Tom 940 Live SatNav (excellent).
Sony Bluetooth stereo speakerset (receives music and sound from Touch, Mobiles and Tom-Tom).
12v dc to 240v ac Inverter for speakerset and any other mains-power items I may add from time to time.
Otherwise, planned are:
Engine Bay torsion bar
New Brembo Calipers, Discs and Pads
Rear Roof Spoiler (I think it may need it!) or maybe a full JCW Aero Pack
Various side, side/tail, indicator, fog lamp replacements with LED items
