This pickup has been my dads service rig for the past 10 years or more. He owned the local auto repair shop and this was his main pickup. He used it to go on service calls to repair harvest trucks or anything else that he needed his tools there with him. Along with the side boxs, there was a road box toolbox that he usually kept in the bed of the pickup during summer as well.
My dad got sick with cancer and lost his battle June 2 2010. The business that he owned was now shut down because he was the only mechanic and my step mom worked in the office. My step mom is in the process of selling off pretty much everything and I just couldn't see this pickup go. I remember him driving it, and for it being a work pickup you can tell how much he truly loved it based on how clean it was kept. The paint is the same paint from the factory, and it is in great shape besides some chips but it is great for the mileage. It has 197k miles on it with a fairly recent GM crate 350 and a rebuilt trans. So i purchased the pickup not knowing exactly i was going to do with it. It was either i purchase it or she was going to go trade it in on a brand new car.
I put the hand controls in it so i will be able to drive it, but currently need to master getting in and out. I am going to put another grab handle above the drivers door and i think that will be the ticket. I don't know if i am going to take the boxs off or not. I know they were perfect for what he did, but i don't like the way that the side toolbox looks.
When i got the truck, it has just under 200000 miles on it. Over the summer i rebuilt the front end, new shocks all around, and updated the stereo.

My Dad had a cowl hood put on when the paint from the stock hood was starting to peel. The wheels are not factory, they are from a later GM 4x4 pickup. The wheels were given to him and were in better shape than the factory so that is why we switched them.
