I drove this very practical car for a couple of years when I was in college. I got married in my sophomore year and needed an inexpensive, reliable vehicle. My Dad, who had owned an auto garage after World War II, helped me find a car that matched that critieria - his analysis: "Barry, it may be the ugliest one we've looked at, but it's in the best shape."
This is the little car the Beach Boys talked about that kept going "beep beep" as it was impatiently trying to pass the big V-8.
They were exceptionally hot little cars, with an overdrive tranny that you could keep going in and out of, giving you six forward speeds.
Straight Six, overdrive, heater, radio, reclining front seats that made into a bed... and not much else.
