Since the Mustang had to go I had my eyes on a 72 Ranchero W/Hood Scoop. There weren't any 72's around with a hood scoop, so a 73 was it. I got a call at 2 o'clock
in the AM from the Maryland State Police asking if I owned a 71 Mach I. Since I was sleeping, I said yes I owned the car. They asked if knew it was stolen. Then, I told them I traded the car yesterday & they needed to contact Sheehy Ford in Marlow Heights, MD. In Maryland I couldn't transfer tags cause the Ranchero was considered a truck. I contacted Sheehy the next day & they said they recovered the car with a blown tranny, on the Beltway. (Tears)
I didn't keep the Ranchero long since my wife backed into a car at the neighborhood McDonalds. I didn't want damaged goods so I traded it in for my 72 H/O.
Father and Son (17yrs old) project. Over past 5 years my son and I have rebuilt front end. Added disc brakes, larger drum brakes in rear. Pulled the tired 170 cu. in motor and installed a hot 175+hp 200 cu. in. 6. High school project was to install Mustang T-5 last year.It's in and works perfect!
Still has original paint and 44years of parking lot dings!
Was used to haul his Jr. Dragster to races until he out grew the dragster.
