Head to Head

About “The Mach Daddy”

This is my 69 Mach 1, My Dad this car in 1973 from the second owner. This is my Dad's Pride and Joy. He and I I spent 4 years restoring it factory correct.

About “XTCNA69”

This was my wifes first car 15 years ago. Her Dad found it in a barn with the top down full of hay. He had to scratch the crud off just to see what color it was. After cleaning it up, my wife used it as a daily driver through high school. The car was parked beside my 67 Firebird one day after work, and I started my car up to leave and she came running out of the restaurant because she thought I was stealing her car! That was how we met, and the rest is history. The car was parked shortly there afterwards for 10 years until I was able to turn the car into something we could be proud of. We started in May 2001 and almost have the car the way we want it. I did everything on the car with the exception of the paint, body, and convertible top installation. The paint and body took 500 hours due to rusted out floor pans, trunk pan, tailpan, one quarter, dash, inner and outer wheelwells, and various other smaller places that had to be patched. We found most of this after we had it sandblasted. Body and subframes were sprayed with PPG Global base/clearcoat. The original 350 was placed back into the car before reassembly. After body assembly, we took the car home and started on the rest. It took 5 months to get the rest of the car back into shape. I installed all new parchment interior since thats what was originally in it.
