This is a one-owner car and was purchased new in October 1965 from Cochran & Celli Chevrolet in Oakland California. I took delivery of it in December of the same year. It still has the original numbers-matching Big Block 396 in it.
It was my family car for a lot of years and towed my 1975 18' Kona Jet Drive (455 Olds powered) ski boat all over Northern California.
It was stolen in 1968 and found several days later with the Muncie 4-speed missing. It was found only a handfull of miles from my home which is where the car was stolen from and everything else was intact.
In 1969 the car had an engine fire when the tap plug of the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor fell out and gasoline was pumped onto the very hot intake manifold. Cochran & Celli Chevrolet in Oakland, California had the pleasure of putting the car back together after that little pyrotechnic event.
I moved to Arizona In 1985 and while the car was in storage it was broken into and the engine was stripped of most of the bolt-on stuff like valve covers, coil, distributor and a brand new 750 double-pump Holley carburetor.
The car sat in that condition for the next 20+ years and in October of 2005 it was loaded onto a truck and taken to Wild West Rods & Custom here in Tucson, Arizona where it spent the next 13 months undergoing a complete frame-off restoration.
The entire Chassis including A-frames, sway bars and traction bars have been black powder-coated as have the underhood parts like the radiator mounts and the inside wheel well covers.

Originally an L34 Big Block 396 with 325 HP it is now almost a clone of the L78 396 with 375+ HP. A dyno-tune measuring HP at rear wheels will likely up this figure closer to 425 HP.
The heads have been ported and polished and the pistons shaved to reduce compression from 10.25 x 1 to about 9.5 x 1 to burn premium pump gas.
An Edelbrock 750 cfm Performer Series Carburetor sits atop an Edelbrock Performer 2-0 Aluminum Manifold with Edelbrock's Enduroshine finish.
A full roller hydraulic cam with all roller lifters replaces the stock hydraulic flat tappet lifter cam and gives it a nice loping idle sound.
Exhaust flows through the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds into 2 1/4 inch stainless steel and exits through a set of Flowmaster mufflers.
ECI Distributor provides the spark and an after-market wiring harness with up-to-date fuse plugs carries juice to wherever it is needed.
A 12-Bolt 3.73 Posi Rear completes the package for now...

Factory options on this car included front bucket seats with console, tinted glass, retractable seat belts, push-button AM radio and Muncie M20 four speed trannie and positraction rear-end. Pretty basic.
The build sheet and original purchase order comprise some of the original documentation for this car along with registration certificates from 1965 thru the last ;year it was registered in California, 1984. The next time it was registered was after its restoration completion in 2006.

Besides those engine modifications listed above, the car runs on a set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A's mounted on an original set of American Racing's All Aluminum 200S "Daisy" Mags purchased from BIG O Tires in Oakland, California in 1969.
The wheels have since been refurbished and brought to better-than-new condition by NU WHEEL, a Tucson, Arizona company that specializes in the repair and refinishing of aluminum wheels to factory finish.
The paint is the original color, Willow Green, paint code HH and is done in a 3-stage base coat, clear coat finish that is absolutely stunning! Paint was done by Larry Barrus of Metal Masters Restorations here in Tucson.
After-market Vintage Air Conditioning was added that operates from the stock heater control knobs and cools the passenger compartment thru duct vents attached under the dash. No cutting was done to the dash to install AC vents.
A Tremec T500 5-speed transmission with overdrive pretty much completes the modifications on this car.
Besides some cosmetic upgrades, future modifications include Disc Brakes (upgrqade from current stock 9 1/2 in 4 wheel drum brake system), Secret Audio Sound System, Tilt-Telescoping Steering Wheel, Power Windows & Keyless Remote Entry and quite possibly a ProCharger or Vortech Supercharger or 'Huffer' system to boost HP a bit :)
