This 1961 pickup truck was my father's truck. He drove it daily for many years until it got hit, and then began to have a few problems. At that point he put it in a shed in Wisconsin and it was basically forgotten and left to rot. The property where the truck was "stored" was sold and the new owners found my dad's name/phone number in the glove box as they were getting ready to crush it. They called us and we went up 2 weeks later to pick it up. I have now been working on and off for the last 2.5-3 years rebuilding bits and parts as I get Time Money and Ambition. (you need all 3 at the same time to get anything done) I have rebuilt the motor, swapped transmissions to make it a manual, bought another truck for parts, installed dual master cylinder brakes, and I am now working on retrofitting a hydraulic clutch. In the process I have lived in 4 different states, and been stationed at 3 different bases, been to a foreign country, gone to 4 schools, and had 3 different primary jobs.

History: This is an early 66 Corvair Corsa Convertible with 140, 4 carb engine and 4speed trans. It was parked sometime in 1974 in a barn where it stayed in hibernation until aproximately 1989. It was than used until about 1993 where it was parked again. I rescued this car in 2004. It went under the knife, sort to speak, for a complete make-over. All of the rust was repaired and the engine rebuilt. This took me about 2 years. I didn't have the engine broken in after the rebuild before I headed to Buffalo, NY for the 2006 CORSA international convention. I took second place in the peoples choice, not bad for a first time out. And an International convention.... I enjoy taking my car out and driving it. It is rarely clean and usually is sporting the kids seats in the back at car shows. I drive it. I enjoy it with my two boys. IMO, that is the whole point of having a car. To enjoy it!
I decided to call her Bessie because most people say shes ugly, slow, old, and needs to be towed to go anywhere. I don't care what they say, I'd give my left lugnut to drive something like that!
140, 4 carbs, 4speed Corsa. Otto 20 cam, 4 individual air cleaners, one piece flywheel, nylon lower control arm inner bushings and Clarks HD engine mount. Stock interior with FM converter. HD 2 inch drop srprings in front. Stock rear springs. 16x7 Torque Thrust II wheels with 4 inch backspace. 205-55 zr16 BFG tires. KYB shocks.
Most of this truck is completely stock, just not from a Corvair truck. Some are car parts (engine/trans/diff), some things are from different years. Some parts are just missing(floor, gas tank, left side of the truck bed)
Rear antenna, tinted windshield and deluxe seat belts.
Dual Master Cylinder Brakes, Working on modding a hydraulic clutch which is nearly complete, seat is new (just not installed until paint/body is complete)
HD lowering springs, 16x7 Torque Thrust II's, paint and Otto 20 cam. I'm not much into modifications, especially ones that cannot be changed out in short order.
