1986 chevy corvette / pace car
pace car only made 7315, was FIBERGLASS FACT:In 1986 Corvette was chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500 and all 1986 Corvette convertibles received pace car replica status.
The convertible returned to the Corvette line late in the 1986 model year.
This was excellent news and fans of America's sports car were too enthused to wonder why it had been gone for ten years. Open air motoring carried a significant price increase however.
The convertible was a $5,000 premium over the coupe and at $32,032 it cracked the $30,000 price point by a significant amount.
Corvettes have always been prime targets for car thiefs, so a novel anti-theft system was introduced for the 1986 'vette. Embedded in each key was an electrical resistor whose value acted like a code. If the car did not read the correct code, starting was disabled and a built in delay prevented a restart attempt for two minutes.

This Vette was payment of back child support, my Dad never paid when I was young. My mother and father divorced when I was twelve, he did not come around much and moved on to another family.
After about thirty years he moved back here when his wife died. He still was not much in the way of a father, So one day I went and told him how I felt. The end result was, he said please take the car and consider it payment for "back child support". So I did. This one I will keep!

I changed the blue interior to Dark Gray perforated leather with a complete kit from Ecklers, K& N fliter, Flowmasters, C5 wheels 17x8.5 front 18X9.5 rear, 15% tint on the windows, Lost the "bread box " and installed the flat dash replacement.and added an Alpine stereo and amp.
