Well I bought it from a Guy who's owned her for the past 15 years I had one long ago and I have one again
Long story. Bought it in 1986,when it was 4 years old. Its Now 2011 (im gettin old)...and the car is 29 yrs old now. So i guess this is my 25th year.
I bought it from my girlfriends Mom . Mom never went over 75 mph :).
In the 70s President Jimmy Carter slaped a mandate on the Auto industry to up the Milage on their entire Fleet by 1982.(This car, the 1982 TransAm was the Very First Car General Motors designed.. IN... a windtunnel) Giving us a brilliant orchestration of aerodynamic function. Its .34 drag coefficient is the best of any production car GM has ever tested, up untill that date.Thus the severe Windshield Slants Started.The aerodynamics got better ..and look around you on the roads today...with all these windtunnel births
So 1982 the T/A lost over 500lbs from the prior year 1981.And you begin to notice a lot of plastic,Smaller engines, Less HP,and of course :) Slanted windshields.The Max Hp you could get was 165 Hp in the 82 Trans Am. And that is NOT what this .. ICON..... deserves. Sooo we took care of that.
With the help of Bill, and Lon Moyer of Second Street Speed of Sellersville P.A We Cut, Clawed, formed,framed and fabricated the under carriage with true dual 3 inch Oval exhaust and put the Bite, back in this BIRD . Bill and Lon are well known on the East Coast, in the Drag Industry for their Stout Motors.Lon recently Working in R&D for Nascar's...Hendricks MotorSports,Built this Motor.

It is a stock 305 C.I.D 5.0 Tunedport injection with a set of 3.42 gears in the posi rearend
406 Small Block bored and stroked ..(within an inch of its life).
Its now a 441 ci..planting 541 hp to the rear..w/ 513 torq.
Fuel injected....True Dual 3 inch oval stainless exhaust (hard to do with 3rd gen). Framed Out under carriage (T/Top needs the support).
Power window,brakes,stering,doorlocks, 4 speed automtic with a WS6 package
305 4 barrel Carb150 Hp from factory
