Cars Profile

About me and my passion for cars

I've been around cars all my life and I've always been interested in them. I grew up with 3 brothers who were always working on their own cars. I would always help work on them.
My dad has a '71 Torino. He has had the car since he was 17 years old.
All of my uncles work around cars. They do body work, painting and mechanic work.
My mom also loves cars. She use to have a '71 Torino several years back. I remember riding around in it with her and the good times we had. It got a lot of attention. Now, she has a '90 Camaro. The Camaro is nice, but she really wishes she still had the Torino or some other type of muscle car.
I've been around Fords more than any type of car my whole life. But I like all types of cars. I'm sure you can tell by my long list of dream cars! I love them all and wished I had them all, too.
Every Christmas when I was real young, I always wanted cars of some sort; Model cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, etc. When I was about 5 or 6 years old, someone in my family gave me a doll for Christmas. Most little girls like dolls, but not me. I didn't want it, so I threw in the That's just how much I hated them! I ran back into the living room and yelled out to everyone I wanted cars, not dolls. I have a ton of model cars, Hot Wheels, remote control cars, etc. that I've collected over the years. I still have most of the cars now that I had back when I was 5 or 6 years old.
Once I got to high school, I took 2 years of auto shop. I really enjoyed that class. It was my favorite! Never wanted to go to any of my other classes. Always made A's and B's. Never anything lower than a B.
When I graduated high school, I started looking for a job. Mostly all the jobs I got were car related, excpet for one. I worked in a small car lot for awhile, then from there, I started working at an auction. I was with that job for about 2 years. After that, I went to detailing cars, and then after that, I started working in a junk yard. While I was working at the junk yard, I started looking for my own car. I knew I wanted something older. I had my eyes on a purple Chevelle right down the road from where I worked at and wanted to save up the money to get it. The owner wanted $5,000 cash and while I was trying to save the money, someone else bought it. In July 2002, I stopped at another small car lot down the road from my work one evening and i found what I was looking for! their it was, sitting all the way in the back of the lot! It was a '73 Mustang Mach 1, primer grey. I was drawn to it like a magnet! I asked the salesman about it and he said they wanted a $1,000 cash for it. Not payments! I looked at it and decided that it was what I wanted. I told him I only had $700 and could they take that for now until I got the rest. At first, he said no, then he went and got his boss. I talked to him for awhile and finally got him to hold the car for me at $700, instead of the whole $1,000. I was so happy! The next day, I went back down there and got all the paper work done on my lunchbreak. Before I left, they told me I could come back down there the next day and take the car home if I wanted to. Of course I wanted to!!! I couldn't believe it! I couldn't wait until I got off from work. They told me I could just pay on it every week until I got it paid off. On my lunchbreak the next day, I got everything done I needed to do; insurance, etc. and after I got off from work, I walked on down to the car lot and picked up my "new car!" It was one of the happiest day of my life. I had it for 2 years. It was a very good car. Never really had any major problems with it other than the transmission. I got it fixed a few months later after I bought it.
In 2004, I sold the '73 Mustang after I got my '72 Mach 1. I realized I couldn't afford 2 to work on at that time. I really regret that I sold it to this day. who knows, maybe i will find another one!
The other first car I had was a '57 Plymouth Savoy. I bought it for $300 in 2000. It was never driveable. The guy that owned it said it had set for 20 years. I had it towed out at someone's house I had knew. Every week, my brothers and I would go out the person's house and work on it just about every week. One day, we got it cranked. It sounded really good. I sat in it for a long time while it was running just imagining what it was like to drive it down the road in such a different car. It needed so much work done, so I knew it would be a very long time before I could ever drive it, but it didn't hurt to dream. I started doing a lot research to see how much it would cost to restore it. It was gonna cost a lot! Too much for me at the time. The person started complaining about the car being in the way and they wanted it moved, so I had to get it moved quick. Every place I moved it to was the same thing. There was no way I could afford to have it towed around town constantly. I was living in an apartment at the time and they wouldn't let me keep it there either. Once I had it towed around town about 7 different times, I decided to sell it. I kept it at my grandparents for awhile until I found someone interested in it. I still had hope that maybe I could afford to have it fixed, but I ended up loosing my job and was going thru a divorce, so there was no way I could at the time. In 2003, I sold it and i also regret selling it, too. Wished I still had it. I hope i will find another one one day, too, but in better condition. I'm always looking for them when I'm out driving and any other car that interests me.
In Feb. 2004, I bought the '72 Mach 1 for $10,000 in a small town in Georgia. Her name is "Rage." An ex-friend of mine had told me about it and said the guy wanted to sell it, but wasn't advertising it. One weekend, I went over to the guys house who had it. He opened the garage and I couldn't believe what i saw. It was love at first sight! I knew I had to have it. It took a several months, but I got it. About 2 weeks later, I had someone come up to me and offer me $30,000 cash for it. I turned it down. That's how much I love this car. I'm not selling this one. This is a keeper! This feb. will be 4 years since I bought it. This is all I have done to it so far, but hopefully in January 2008, I will have a 410 stroker motor together for it. Once that happens, I will update mostly everything on the specs page, etc.
I always go to the local car shows and sometimes go to ones further away if I can, since I love cars so much. I always take tons of pictures. I have a lot of them posted on cardomain and webshots. I will add the link for that. So far, my car has won a lot trophies this year.
I always work on my own cars, too!
