1953 Merc Starliner. Paid $5.00 for it. The body was in pristine condition. I was a very dark green and 2 tone green interior and the sun roof covered the entire front seat area. The flathead v-8 was in need of help and I tore into it with a brand new tool set and a "Motors" repair manual. I ended up replacing the berrings on both the block and crank. I bartered around and got a set of M/T heads for it and a double 2 bbl manifold, A new cam, a valve job ( I thought I would never get those things lapped) new rings,, and I was pretty much done. She fired on the first try and I thought I was having a sexual ecounter even though I was still virgin. That car had a perfect badazz sound and I thought it was the hottest thing on the street. I cleaned and polished that car until it looked new again. I was a bit shy of 15 at the time and couldnt get a license and was forbidden to take it out of the yard. Someone else3 liked that car too. After a weekend in Chicago, the car and the new set of SK tools were missing and nobody knew anything about it. I built a $25.00 49 Ford Dr. coupe next at a friends place.
