About 427Beaver’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
I grew up in the era of factory Muscle, so my passion is for those cars. My family was in the used car business and I got to drive every make there was. Since a lot of my friends had GM and Mopars I went the opposite direction and was firmly in the Ford camp.It took a little more work but those FE Fords were tough to beat.
My first car
1956 Ford 2 door Ranch Wagon with a Thunderbird 312, 225HP, 3 speed w/OD, dual exhaust, dog dish hubcaps. It ran good enough to stick with any Chevy but a certain `57 Buick Century would cleam me every time.
Car I wish I still had
My 1967 Comet 427. It was a 202 2 door post I ordered new from my Uncle's Lincoln Mercury dealership. It was a R code 427/425, 4 speed. It wasn't very reliable at first due to running out of oil with the stock 5 quart oil pan. Two engines later we installed an 8 quart pan, extended pick up and a windage tray. Then it lived. I ran a best of 11.61 on 7" tires. That was on the A/Stock record in 1968.
My dream car
I currently own a `63 Galaxie with a 427 High Riser. Only 47K on it. Never wrecked and all original paint. I just love driving it. If I could own a clone of Ronnie Sox's 1964 Comet A/FX 427 it would be the cats meow.
Car clubs I’m in
