I know it's not very impressive, but it is progress. I don't know why it had to get colder when I decided to work on this pile! I'm not thrilled to work on this truck, and definitely NOT thrilled about doing it outside on the driveway! It's about all I can do. Anyway, I got the wheels off. It's like they were welded on. It needs the front tires replaced. The front brakes look good. The rear tires are good. The brake drums fought me hard coming off, especially the right one. The hardware in that one was falling apart so I'm just going to replace it in both sides. Then I have to figure out why the brake pedal dropped. I didn't see any leaks. It was probably an internal leak in the master cylinder, knowing my luck. Then I started checking out the front end. Oh boy! I think I'm going to replace all the tie rod ends, idler arm, and pitman arm to begin with and see what I get after that. I did find something up front that I didn't expect. There's a leak in the power steering lines. I thought my step son fixed them when he replaced the hoses in high school auto-shop.I hope it's just loose fittings. When I was getting the brake drums off the rear, I spun the axels back and forth, kind of checking the lash. Didn't feel too loose, and not too much play. No clunking or banging. I think the noise we had before was in the transfer case. That may be a bit of relief. I'd rather change that than a rear end. This is starting to remind me of the Trans Am project.. I worked on that all winter trying to get it done for summer, but ended up working on it halfway through July to get it done. Now it seems like I'll be working on this truck into winter! I need it before the snow really starts to fly!
