Rarest Camaro Ever

When I was 15 years old my family moved to another house in Miami, FL. Across the street lived a kid about my age. His name was Jose Machado. Ultimately, he became one of my best friends and remains one today.

His father bought for him a 1980 Hugger Z28 Camaro. There were only 90 made and each one was individually numbered. He had #28 of 90. That was my introduction to the cars.

While my father was ill, in late 2001, I was in Miami again and took some time to thumb through an issue of the Auto Trader. I was surprised to find not one, but two Huggers for sale.

About a year later, I started to actively pursue finding a Hugger to purchase. I ultimately found Hugger #19, which has now been written about in several magazines. The most notable so far has been a feature which is in the December issue of Super Chevy. Other articles have been published, but this is the first Feature for the car, and for me.

The car has bee rotissary restored back to its factory new condition, with the exception of the motor. The motor has its original look in every way. However, it is not pushing 440 HP instead of the original 190HP from the factory. When I originally started this restoration it was for my satisfaction. As it unfolded, I became very interested in keeping it factory stock. My thought process was that if I ever sold the car it would go to a museum, in which the car would look correct, or it would be purchased by a car buff and would be driven. In that case, the car would be a lot of fun to drive, but would be historically visually correct.

I would like to share the recent article that is currently on newsstand shelves in a store near you. I have attached the scans to my garage so please browse and enjoy.

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog post and the feature about my car.
