About “Dad's Corvette”
First, I have to say THIS IS NOT A PICTURE OF THE ACTUAL CAR! A friend had this picture posted in a car show album, but it looks nearly identical to the way Dad's car did (except that Dad's car had a hood scoop and a white stripe) before it was destroyed in a house fire when I was about 7 years old.
This is the car that started my interest in cars in the first place. I'd lie on my back under the car with him and try to help with whatever he was doing with it. He had me hand tools to him (usually, the WRONG tools!), but ha wouldn't let me actually do any of the mechanical work. I did help him keep it clean, washing the sides and dusting the interior.
About “Ole Blue”
I bought this car and found out that it was a rust bucket. My wife and I started tearing it apart and and replaced most everything that was metal including the "bird cage" and winshield frame. We did the work on it ourselves with the help of one friend. The paint was by Youngs Body Shop in Worland, Wyoming. It is almost finished and is already a show winner. We've been working on it for 13 years.
Specs for “Dad's Corvette”
To the best of my memory, it had the usual Corvette stuff:
V-8, 4-speed stick, AM/FM radio, etc. As far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile times go, I didn't care! All I know is it was the most thrilling ride a young girl could have ever asked for. After this Vette, no car with a solid roof would do for me!
Specs for “Ole Blue”
This car is a 327 cubic inch, 350 horsepower special high performance engine. It has a the M20 close ratio four speed and disc brakes.
