Description: The previous owner had done a very basic job and upgraded the orginal system from R-12 to R-134. This apparently consisted of only changing the the low and high side ports to the newer fittings. Although the system blew cold air, as is often the case with a simple upgrade, it leaked about 12 oz of R-134 every two weeks. I decided to do a full upgrade, including replacing all the old o-rings and installing new barrier hose. Then I discovered a kit from Griffiths Automotive ( http://www.gr...ac/index.html ) than includes almost everything ( except o-rings for the parts not included in the kit.) This kit is available from them directly, or strangly enough, cheaper from 928 Specialists ( https://www.928gt.com/default1.htm ) It includes a new Kuehl compressor, barrier hose, custom mounting brackets, some O-Rings, a drier and great instructions. And, it ended up being not much more expensive than using my old compressor but buying new upgraded hoses, drier and O-Rings. Also, no core deposit. It was an easy choice!

This process took a solid day, NOT counting time to purge, evacuate, etc.

I also want to chat with the Porsche engineer who put the low side AC port under the remote battery terminal and under the radiator hose. You get shocked, burned or both any time to you need to add R-134!

If you are considering this upgrade, please contact me if you have any questions. I'm no expert, but I'll help where I can. Here are some excellent links to get you started:
