Green Acres is the place to be!!
We had one like that on our farm!! It might have been a couple of years newer. It was Diesel with a exhaust stack but same body style!
The good old days!!

1958 Massey Ferguson MF50 (Massey Ferguson)

Last updated Jan 9, 2008

Photo of a 1958 Massey Ferguson MF50 (Massey Ferguson)

Acquired: 2003

This was my dad's tractor that I inherited. It's not a car (no, really!), but it is a great vehicle. Awesome to drive, and probably the only vehicle so far on this site with a PTO or a three point hitch. I also have a Ferguson back blade for it.

I've thought about restoring this machine, but it has a very nice patina, and I think a fresh paint job would take away a lot of its character.

In today's world of airconditioned, GPS controlled cultivation systems, this is a gentleman's tractor.

Resto update:

We built a new house in 2006-7 and it has a 300' crushed limestone driveway. No way am I using a snowblower on that! So in went the Massey for some overdue maintenance. Just a few things like a rebuilt motor; reworked head; rebuilt carb, starter, generator; new radiator, clutch, ring gear, water pump; oh, and why not a paint job? I'm sorry to lose the patina, but with the engine rebuild, at least part of it was going to be painted, and it wouldn't look right with a shiny motor and a weathered everything else. Eventually, it'll get that look back, because I own it to use it.

I wear 'em because my eyesight ain't so good, but I fail to see what they have to do with this tractor.

Thanks to all who see the humor and fun in my challenges of Dylan and MasterZ's fine rides. You'll notice I didn't pit my Firebird against their cars. I just didn't want to get STOMPED! These guys are class acts.
