About

Purchased new in late 1958, just before Christmas from Windolph Pontiac in Portland, Oregon by my Great-Grandfather Jig for $3815.43. He drove the car from new until his death in 1984. It changed hands a few times, but was kept largely intact and well taken care of. The car has appeared in the film “Dead by Sunset”, Television shows “Nowhere Man” , “Under Suspicion” and most recently in the NBC hit “Grimm”.

It is now back in my family after 25 years and will be in my family for future generations to enjoy. Funny, I remember riding in the back seat when I was a kid and I felt like I was riding in a limousine, now I can barely turn around back there.

When My Dad initally showed me the car in 2002, it was sitting in a driveway covered in moss with 4 flat tires and looking a little hagard. I was living on Maui at the time, so I wasn’t really interested in getting it back.

We moved back to Portland in 2008 and I sent the owner a letter, well…..4 of them over a 2 year period, not including the notes on her front door!! (I think they call that stalking??)Persistance and pestering finally paid off! I checked Craigslist almost daily when it popped up on May 19, 2010. She found the letter after posting the ad. She wanted $2400.00, but I managed to get her down to $1800.00 and she was back in the family again 2 days later. I don’t regret it for a second!

I didn’t tell my Dad (Jig was his Granddad)I was getting it back, the look on is face was priceless…...Something I will never forget!

Plans for this Vehicle

A complete restoration is in its future, but for now I will drive it like it is, it has wonderful original character. If and when I do a restoration, it will be a cosmetic one. There is absolutely no severe rust anywhere, except where a cast iron claw foot tub rolled down a hill and dented the right rear fender.

The car was undercoated for $10.00 when it was new, so it has pretty much preserved the underside and frame from the elements. They even sprayed the underside of the hood!!

Specs

Stock 2BBL 389 w/ 4 Spd Hydra-Matic Jetaway transmission.

Mods

NONE! 100% original with the exception of a re-paint in the factory Vanguard Blue Metallic sometime in the 1980's.
