About
Here's an engine shot from my 1964 VW Karmann Ghia. This is my "street" engine, and it displaces 2054cc's. With 10.92 to 1 compression I run 110 octaine racing gas through the original Italian Weber 48 IDA carbs. See more details below and in other "Blue" shots in my garage.
Specs
The "Street" engine displaces 2054cc's and includes the following internals:
- 74mm Tony Mance crankshaft,
- Wedgemated 12lbs flywheel.
- Scat 5.400" I-beam connecting rods
- 94mm Mahle pistons and cylinders.
- Vintage Lonne Reed "Head Shop" Wedge-Ports
(42mm Intake valves and 37.5mm exhaust valves)
- Compression is 10.92 to 1.
- Induction: geniune Italian Weber 48 IDA carburators
(42mm venturis, original SKAT TRAK Manifolds
Gene Berg Linkage)
- Exhaust system: Gene Berg Enterprises 1 3/4" merged
racing header, with my own fabricated Flowmaster 2 1/2"
muffler.
The transmission is a highly modified Type 1 gearbox. Built by Dave Folts (La Habra CA), it features a Rhino case, ERCO gears (4.25/2.56/1.70/1.31) with a 3.885 R&P, and sway-a-way racing axles.
Factory Options
Original engine displaced 1200cc's and was rated at 40hp.
